Visit of officials of Azerbaijan Rural Investment Project (AzRIP) to India

          Ambassador of India Sanjay Rana received a delegation of Azerbaijani officials working with Azerbaijan Rural Investment Project (AzRIP), Department of Agriculture, who are going to visit India. The visit is being arranged by the World Bank under the South-South Knowledge Exchange on Rural Infrastructure Service Delivery and Livelihood Programme.  Ambassador discussed the programme of their visit and bilateral cooperation between India and Azerbaijan in the field of agriculture. 

          It was mentioned that under the Indian Technical Economic Cooperation (ITEC) Programme, the Government of India provides fully funded training courses for government officials and professionals scholarship at top-class institutions in India. All cost of participation such as international travel, course fees, accommodation, books, medical expenses in India and sundry expenses are met by the Government of India.  There are currently 56 empanelled institutions conducting around 300 courses every year and around 10,000 students come from over 160 countries to India to participate in these courses.

          There are 20 slots per year for participants from Azerbaijan under the ITEC programme.  Since 2004, more than 120 Azeri candidates have completed different courses in India under the ITEC programme. 

          India and Azerbaijan enjoy close and friendly relations and are committed to develop a strong, vibrant and mutually beneficial partnership with each-other.  They have an active cooperation between them in many areas including trade and investment,  transportation, energy, chemicals and fertilizer, science & technology, information and communication Technology (ICT), health care and pharmaceuticals, education, culture, and youth and sports.

          In the field of agriculture, India and Azerbaijan has growing cooperation.  Indian company 'Sonalika' has launched its tractors and agricultural implements in Azerbaijan.
