Celebrations of 550th Birth Anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev Ji 

As part of the on-going celebrations of the 550th Birth Anniversary of Guru Nanak Devji, Embassy of India, Baku, in association with Sangat Cultural Club of Azerbaijan University of Languages (AUL), organised an event on 16 April 2019 in the Embassy premises. This was the second event organized by the Embassy to celebrate the 550th Birth Anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev ji.  The event was graced by the presence of Sri Satguru Dalip Singh Ji and 12 other members from the Sikh community.

       Addressing the guests, Ambassador Shri B. Vanlalvawna outlined the decisions taken by Government of India on the occasion, which include: development of Kartarpur Sahib corridor to facilitate pilgrims from India to visit Gurdwara Darbar Sahib Kartarpur in Pakistan; development of Sultanpur Lodhi as a heritage town on the Smart City principles; setting up of Chairs on Shri Guru Nanak Dev in one University each in UK and Canada; release of commemorative coin and postage stamps to mark this momentous occasion; organising religious activities throughout the country; telecasting of programmes on Shri Guru Nanak Dev ji and the Gurubani on Doordarshan; plans of Indian of Railways to run a train passing through the various holy places associated with Shri Guru Nanak Devji, for pilgrims and tourists.

       In his keynote speech, the guest of honour Sri Satguru Dalip Singh Ji shared the noble teachings of Guru Nanak Devji of love, equality and fraternity and the relevance of his teachings in the present world. He lauded the initiative taken by Government of India to celebrate Guru Nanak Dev ji's 550th Birth Anniversary and also to popularize the noble teachings of Guru Nanak Devji.  He expressed his gratitude to the members of Sangat and resident Indian community for inviting them to Azerbaijan.
