Embassy of India Organises Free Screening of Chak De! India under Bharat Filmotsav – Baku Evenings Series

The Embassy of India in Azerbaijan organised a free screening of the acclaimed Indian sports drama Chak De! India at the Chancery premises on 31 July 2026. The screening was held as part of the Bharat Filmotsav under the Embassy's popular Baku Evenings cultural series and witnessed enthusiastic participation from Azerbaijani youth, students, members of the Indian community, and friends of India.

Welcoming the audience, Ambassador of India to Azerbaijan, Shri Abhay Kumar, highlighted the power of Indian cinema as an important medium of cultural diplomacy that transcends barriers of language, geography, and culture by conveying universal human values. Referring to Chak De! India, he noted that the film is much more than a sports drama, as it celebrates determination, teamwork, resilience, diversity, women’s empowerment, and national pride. He emphasised that these timeless values are equally relevant in strengthening friendship, mutual understanding, and cooperation among nations. The Ambassador also reaffirmed the Embassy's commitment to promoting cultural exchanges through cinema, literature, music, yoga, art, education, and people-to-people interactions, thereby further deepening the strong bonds between India and Azerbaijan.

The audience thoroughly enjoyed the film's inspiring storyline and appreciated its powerful messages of women’s empowerment, teamwork, resilience, leadership, and unity in diversity. Many participants praised the Embassy's initiative to bring some of the finest works of Indian cinema to Azerbaijani audiences through the Bharat Filmotsav.

Special Indian snacks were served during the event, adding to the festive atmosphere and providing guests with a taste of India's rich culinary traditions. The screening concluded with lively interactions among participants, further strengthening cultural ties and people-to-people connections between India and Azerbaijan.
