Ambassador's speech during the Great Indian Ayurveda Festival

September 23, 2026

Remarks by Ambassador
The Great Indian Ayurveda Festival / 11th Ayurveda Day-23 September, 2026

Excellencies, distinguished guests, ladies and gentlemen,

A very warm welcome to the Great Indian Ayurveda Festival, organised by the Embassy of India to mark the 11th Ayurveda Day.

Ayurveda is one of India's oldest systems of health and wellness, developed and refined over thousands of years through observation, experience and a holistic understanding of the human body, mind and environment. It is a time-tested tradition that places equal emphasis on prevention, healthy living and wellbeing.

Its relevance is particularly evident today. The world is witnessing a rise in lifestyle-related diseases, while the COVID-19 pandemic has reminded us of the need to strengthen preventive health and resilience. At the same time, growing antimicrobial resistance is creating new challenges for modern healthcare.

This has renewed global interest in traditional systems of medicine and holistic approaches to wellness. Ayurveda, when practised responsibly and supported by scientific research and appropriate standards of safety and quality, can make a meaningful contribution to this wider conversation.

Ayurveda and Yoga have also travelled far beyond India and are increasingly being embraced across the world, including here in Azerbaijan. Today's festival is therefore an opportunity to further strengthen the growing India–Azerbaijan partnership in traditional medicine, wellness and people-to-people exchanges.

I am delighted that we have with us today distinguished practitioners from Shabran Well Being Resort and Sri Sri Wellbeing Center, Baku, who will share their knowledge and experience with us.

I thank all our distinguished guests for joining us and wish everyone an enriching and enjoyable evening.

Thank you.
