Excellencies, Distinguished Guests, Members of the Diplomatic Corps, Friends of India, Ladies and Gentlemen,
Good evening, and a very warm welcome to all of you.
It gives me great pleasure to welcome you to the Great Indian Mango Festival at the Embassy of India. I sincerely thank each one of you for joining us this evening to celebrate one of India's most cherished and iconic fruits—the mango.
Often referred to as the "King of Fruits," the mango holds a special place in India's culture, cuisine, and traditions. Cultivated in India for more than four thousand years, it is treasured not only for its exquisite taste but also as a symbol of abundance, hospitality, and prosperity.
India is the world's largest producer of mangoes, with hundreds of varieties grown across its diverse regions. Each variety has its own unique flavour, aroma, texture, and story, reflecting the richness of India's geography, climate, and agricultural heritage. This evening, you will have the opportunity to taste some of these celebrated varieties and discover what makes each of them truly distinctive.
I sincerely believe that, considering the global popularity of mangoes, the people of Azerbaijan will also develop a lasting appreciation for the exceptional taste and diversity of Indian mangoes. I hope they will become a welcome addition to homes, dining tables, and kitchens across this beautiful country. Beyond their rich flavour and aroma, mangoes are also valued for their nutritional benefits, being a good source of dietary fibre, essential vitamins, and antioxidants. They truly offer the perfect combination of taste, nourishment, and wellness.
Food has a remarkable ability to bring people together. Festivals such as this create opportunities to celebrate our shared appreciation of culture, tradition, and culinary heritage. They also strengthen the people-to-people connections that form the foundation of the warm and friendly relationship between India and Azerbaijan.
I hope this evening offers you not only the opportunity to enjoy the wonderful flavours of Indian mangoes but also a glimpse of India's vibrant cultural diversity through the performances specially arranged for you.
I would like to express my sincere appreciation to our partners, the Embassy team, and everyone whose dedication and hard work have made this festival possible. My heartfelt thanks also go to our talented artists for sharing their wonderful performances with us this evening.
I invite all of you to explore the stalls, savour the different varieties of Indian mangoes, and enjoy the cultural programme.
Thank you once again for joining us. I wish you all a delightful evening and a memorable experience at the Great Indian Mango Festival.
Thank you.
