Excellencies, Distinguished Guests, Ladies and Gentlemen,

A very good evening to you all. It gives me immense pleasure to welcome you to the Embassy of India for the inauguration of the Permanent Exhibition on UNESCO World Heritage Sites of India. We are delighted to have with us Ms. Anna Soave, The head of country programme of UN-Habitat Azerbaijan.

I thank each one of you for joining us on this special occasion.

India is one of the world's oldest continuous civilizations, with a cultural legacy spanning thousands of years. This legacy is reflected in our magnificent monuments, ancient cities, sacred places, archaeological sites, and breathtaking natural landscapes. Together, they tell the story of a civilization that has evolved through the centuries while preserving its , 7 Natural Sites, and 1 Mixed Site. These sites represent not only India's heritage but also humanity's shared heritage, recognized for their Outstanding Universal Value. They range from the World’s Oldest University Nalanda to the iconic Taj Mahal; the ancient Buddhist monuments at Sanchi to the magnificent temples of Hampi and Khajuraho and many more.

This permanent exhibition has been conceived as a window into India's rich cultural and natural heritage. Through these panels, we hope visitors to the Embassy will gain an appreciation of the remarkable diversity, creativity, and history that have shaped India over millennia. It is our endeavour that this exhibition continues to inspire curiosity, learning, and a greater understanding of India's civilizational journey.

I am delighted that this evening also offers you the opportunity to experience India's vibrant performing arts and savour the flavours of Indian cuisine. Culture is one of the most powerful ways of building bridges between nations, and I hope today's event leaves you with lasting memories of India's rich heritage and hospitality.
