COVID-19 RELATED ADVISORY,  DATED MARCH 25, 2020

 

Embassy of India, Baku (Azerbaijan) has received some queries from India and Indian nationals in Azerbaijan regarding Corona-virus infections in Azerbaijan. In this regard, the Embassy is maintaining contact with local authorities in Azerbaijan and is also in touch with Indian nationals residing in Azerbaijan.

Indian nationals in Azerbaijan may kindly note the following:

(i)  The Government of the Republic of Azerbaijan has advised all to follow self-isolation measures, to leave home only when there is a serious need, to have minimal contact with other people, not to go to crowded areas and strictly comply with the requirements of preventive measures.

(ii) Road travel between Baku and its two neighbouring districts Sumgait and Absheron is restricted. All travel from other regions to Baku are also suspended.

(iii) Citizens of foreign countries visiting Azerbaijan may be placed in quarantine for 14 days, taking into account individual medical conditions, or required to observe a 14-day individual quarantine at home. Citizens of foreign countries may also be tested for COVID-19.

(iv) A special quarantine regime has been declared in the Republic of Azerbaijan from 00:00 on March 24, 2020 to 00:00 on April 20.

(v) It is learnt through media sources quoting State Migration Service, Republic of Azerbaijan, that Foreigners including Indian citizen, who cannot leave Azerbaijan for obvious reasons, are no longer required to apply for an extension of their temporary stay in Azerbaijan. Appeals by foreigners, whose stay in the country from 24 March until April 30 expires, are considered accepted by the State Migration Service, and their stay in Azerbaijan will be considered legal for a period corresponding to the size of the state fee stipulated by the Law of the Republic of Azerbaijan "On state duty" ( the state duty for minors for 30 days is 15 manat, for 60 days - 30 manat; the state duty for adults is 60 manat).
