COVID-19 RELATED ADVISORY,  DATED 15 MAY, 2020

Embassy of India, Baku (Azerbaijan) has been receiving queries from Indian nationals in Azerbaijan and from India regarding Corona-virus infections in Azerbaijan. In this regard, the Embassy is maintaining contact with local authorities in Azerbaijan and is also in touch with Indian nationals residing in Azerbaijan.

 Indian nationals residing in Azerbaijan may kindly note the following:

  • Government of India will be facilitating the return of Indian nationals stranded abroad on compelling groundsin a phased manner. Indian nationals in Azerbaijan who seek to travel back to India may fill the Registration Form and Undertaking (Download here) and mail duly filled form in word document format to our email  address: cons.baku@mea.gov.in 
  • While the present quarantine regime in Azerbaijan has been extended until 31 May 2020, the authorities had earlier eased restrictions on a number of activities in Baku, Sumgayit, Ganja, Lankaran and Absheron districts, whereas restrictions on almost all activities in other regions and cities were removed. Starting from 18 May, it has been decided to further ease restrictions in Baku, Sumgayit, Ganja, Lankaran and Absheron districts, thereby restrictions on the following will be lifted:
  • Prohibition on people over the age of 65 from leaving home. However, they are encouraged not to leave home unless necessary, as they are at risk group of contracting the COVID-19 virus
  • Restriction on entry to boulevard, park and recreation centers. However, groups of more than 10 persons are not allowed.
  • Ban on on-site service to clients at restaurant, cafe, tea houses, as well as all public catering facilities from 08:00 a.m. to 06:00 p.m
  • The system of obtaining permission through SMS to leave residence.
  • Closure of museums and exhibition halls etc.
  • The number of employees of state bodies required to report for work will continue to be restricted.
  • Restriction on the suspension of activity of amusement centers, as well as children entertainment centers (including in the territory of boulevard and parks), large trade centers and malls, excluding product markets and pharmacies under them, will remain in force.
  • Suspension of the entry and exit to the country by land and air transport, except cargo transportation, will continue.
  • Entry/exit to Baku, Sumgait cities, and Absheron district, as well as Ganja, Lankaran cities and suspension of passenger transportation from other cities and districts of the country by land and air transport will remain in force.
  • The suspension of the teaching and learning process in all educational institutions of the country will continue.
  • Baku Metro resumed services from 09 May.
  • Citizens of foreign countries visiting Azerbaijan may be placed in quarantine for 14 days, taking into account individual medical conditions, or required to observe a 14-day individual quarantine at home. Citizens of foreign countries may also be tested for COVID-19.
  • State Migration Service has decided that foreigners, including Indian citizens, who have registered upon their place of stay, and could not leave Azerbaijan for obvious reasons, and their visa ended or will end during the period 01-31 May 2020, can stay in the country legally and their cases are considered as accepted by the State Migration Service and their period of stay will be extended for 30-60 days for payment of State Duty. They can stay in the country after they receive payment number through the website of the Service [https://eservice.migration.gov.az/public/payments-search?lang=az] by paying the State Fee in electronic form (via Government Payment Portal, ASAN Payment system, or Expresspay terminals).
  • The Embassy is functioning with normal working hours.
