COVID-19 RELATED ADVISORY,  DATED 30 May, 2020

Embassy of India, Baku (Azerbaijan) has been receiving queries from Indian nationals in Azerbaijan and from India regarding Corona-virus infections in Azerbaijan. In this regard, the Embassy is maintaining contact with local authorities in Azerbaijan and is also in touch with Indian nationals residing in Azerbaijan.

 Indian nationals residing in Azerbaijan may kindly note the following:

  • Government of India will be facilitating the return of Indian nationals stranded abroad on compelling grounds in a phased manner. Indian nationals in Azerbaijan who seek to travel back to India may fill the Registration Form and Undertaking (Download hereand mail duly filled form in word document format to our email  address: cons.baku@mea.gov.in 
  • The special quarantine regime in Azerbaijan has been extended till 15 June 2020, with further easing of restrictions on a number of activities from 31 May 2020. As part of easing of the restrictions:
  • The requirement related to reduction of maximum number of employees at state agencies in Baku, Sumgait, Ganja, Lankaran cities and Absheron region has been lifted;
  • The functioning of large trade centers and malls is resumed countrywide (except for functioning of children’s centers and other entertainment centers, cinema halls, public catering facilities under trade centers and malls);
  • The organization of sport competitions held in the open air is permitted without participation of spectators;
  • The on-site servicing of customers will be implemented from 08:00 AM till 10:00 PM at restaurants, cafes, tea houses, as well as all public catering facilities situated in Baku, Sumgait, Ganja, Lankaran cities and Absheron region (except for use of hookah equipment and massive festivities, parties by gathering together more than 10 people at all public catering facilities countrywide).

  • Earlier, prohibition on people over the age of 65 from leaving homeand the system of obtaining permission through SMS to leave residence have been removed.
  • It has been decided to extend the restriction imposed on entry into and exit from the territory of Azerbaijan via land and air ways, except for cargo transportations and charter flights, has been extended till June 15, 2020.
  • The use of medical masks will be obligatory at the enclosed spaces such as historical and cultural monuments, praying venues, science and health institutions, bazaars, enclosed public catering, trade and service facilities, social, cultural and other similar enclosed facilities.
  • It is obligatory to wear masks in public transportations, i.e., bus, taxi, metro, railway etc. and also when queuing up in front of ticket issuing offices, bank (ATM) machines and payment terminals, trade, work and service facilities. 
  • The suspension of the teaching and learning process in all educational institutions of the country will continue.
  • Citizens of foreign countries visiting Azerbaijan may be placed in quarantine for 14 days, taking into account individual medical conditions, or required to observe a 14-day individual quarantine at home. Citizens of foreign countries may also be tested for COVID-19.
  • State Migration Service has decided that foreigners, including Indian citizens, who have registered upon their place of stay, and could not leave Azerbaijan for obvious reasons, and their visa ended or will end during the period 01-31 May 2020, can stay in the country legally and their cases are considered as accepted by the State Migration Service and their period of stay will be extended for 30-60 days for payment of State Duty. They can stay in the country after they receive payment number through the website of the Service [https://eservice.migration.gov.az/public/payments-search?lang=az] by paying the State Fee in electronic form (via Government Payment Portal, ASAN Payment system, or Expresspay terminals).
