Embassy of India, Baku (Azerbaijan) has been receiving queries from Indian nationals in Azerbaijan and from India regarding Corona-virus infections in Azerbaijan. In this regard, the Embassy is maintaining contact with local authorities in Azerbaijan and is also in touch with Indian nationals residing in Azerbaijan.

 Indian nationals residing in Azerbaijan may kindly note the following:

  • The special quarantine regime in Azerbaijan has been further extended till 01 August 2020, with strict quarantine regime from 00:00 AM on June 21 to 06:00 AM on 05 July in Baku, Sumgait, Jalilabad, Absheron, and Ganja cities.   During this period :
  • The system of obtaining permission for leaving home, including for people at the age of 65 years, through SMS service will be re-introduced (by sending SMS to 8103).
  • Functioning of museums and exhibitions and the sport games in the open air will be suspended.
  • On-site services at public catering facilities will not be allowed.
  • Shopping centers, hairdressing salons, beauty salons, and cosmetic services will be suspended.
  • However, Baku metro and public transport will operate. Access to boulevard, parks and recreation centers will not be restricted. Unlike, during the week-end curfew, other shops and pharmacies will be opened.

  • It has been decided to extend the restriction imposed on entry into and exit from the territory of Azerbaijan via land and air ways, except for cargo transportations and charter flights, has been extended till 01 August, 2020.
  • The use of medical masks will be obligatory at the enclosed spaces such as historical and cultural monuments, praying venues, science and health institutions, bazaars, enclosed public catering, trade and service facilities, social, cultural and other similar enclosed facilities.
  • It is obligatory to wear masks in public transportations, i.e., bus, taxi, metro, railway etc. and also when queuing up in front of ticket issuing offices, bank (ATM) machines and payment terminals, trade, work and service facilities. 
  • Violation of the requirement of wearing masks will be fined to the tune of AZN 50 for general public, AZN 100 for senior officials, and AZN 200 for legal entities.
  • Entry to malls without wearing masks and gloves is prohibited.
  • The suspension of the teaching and learning process in all educational institutions of the country will continue.
  • Citizens of foreign countries visiting Azerbaijan may be placed in quarantine for 14 days, taking into account individual medical conditions, or required to observe a 14-day individual quarantine at home. Citizens of foreign countries may also be tested for COVID-19.
  • State Migration Service has decided to extend temporary stay of foreigners by 30-60 days, due to extension of the border crossing restriction till August 1.
