Vacancy Notice

The Embassy of India, Baku invites applications from suitable candidates to fill up a vacant position of ‘Translator-cum-Interpreter-cum-social secretary’

Job Profile: 

1. Monitoring of Azerbaijani print and online news media, news on television, press briefings, etc. and prepare news reports in English on the same.
2. Whisper Translation (Azerbaijani-English) for officials in the Mission.
3. Translation of written material on various topics. These may include letters, reports, news articles, articles, notes-verbale, brochures, tender documents, emails, etc. 
4. Using software and bespoke applications to create and upload content.
5. Preparation of summaries of varied content, in English.
6. Any other tasks, as directed from time to time.

Qualification, skill-sets, experience and age:

1. A university degree/equivalent
2. A diploma or certificate course in translation / interpretation from Azerbaijani to English and vice-versa is highly desirable.
3. At least two years of suitable work experience is preferable.
4. Ability to fluently speak, read and write in English and Azerbaijani languages.
5. Proficiency in computer skills (MS Office, internet, emails, social-media, etc.) 
6. Strong interpersonal skill and ability to prioritize and deal with multiple tasks.
7. Willingness to work beyond office hours, if required.
8. Not more than 40 years as on 01.01.2024

Contract: The successful candidate will on probation for an initial period of 3 months. After successful completion of probation, he/ she may be considered for a 3 years contract depending upon satisfactory performance. 

Remuneration: The starting gross salary would be US$ 960 per month, which includes cost of living allowance.   

Selection procedure: Eligible candidates will be required to appear at a written examination. Only those candidates who are successful in written examination will be called for interview. The selection will be made on the basis of the overall performance of the candidate.

Please keep in mind that it is a requirement for all applicants to have the appropriate permission to live and work in Azerbaijan. The Embassy of India does not sponsor work permits. It will also not be possible for the Embassy to meet the travel costs incurred for the written examination/interview, nor the costs connected with relocation if offered a job.
