GSS Press Release 2017

The Embassy of India, Baku is pleased to announce that the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR), New Delhi has offered one (1) scholarship to a meritorious student for either undergraduate (Bachelors degree), Masters Degree or a Doctoral programme under ICCR’s General Scholarship Scheme (GSS) for the year 2017-18. The selected candidate will be provided a scholarship package to cover tuition / college fees and a part of the cost of boarding & lodging in India for the duration of studies/research work in a recognized Indian University or higher educational institution. The cost of air travel from Baku to India is to be borne by the selected Student.

2. Interested candidates, with good knowledge of English, may apply for either undergraduate (Bachelors degree), Masters Degree or a Doctoral programme in any field of study except medical courses and studies related to medicine. For science courses, the expenditures on laboratory chemicals and other incidental charges will have to be borne by the scholar.

3. Interested candidates from Azerbaijan may visit the ICCR’s website and click “General Scholarships – GCSS” under the tab “Students & Scholarships” for downloading application forms, instructions / guidelines, Physical Fitness Certificate Form, Financial terms and conditions, list of Universities / Institutions covered the GCS scheme. 4. Application forms can also be collected from the Embassy on any working day. The application complete in all respects is to be submitted in Six copies by 21 January, 2017. Please note that no applications will be received in the Embassy after 21 January, 2017.

5. The scholars applying under the scheme may also check on the specific admission criteria laid down by the concerned Universities for each subject and ensure that they submit all relevant documentation as required by the Universities in addition to the basic certificates mentioned in the application form. The applying Scholars may also refer to concerned institute’s website for eligibility criteria or University Grants Commission’s Website ( for detailed information on Indian Universities and colleges and various fields of study / research offered by the higher educational institutions.
