COVID-19 RELATED ADVISORY, DATED 31 AUGUST, 2020

Embassy of India, Baku (Azerbaijan) has been receiving queries from Indian nationals in Azerbaijan and from India regarding Corona-virus infections in Azerbaijan. In this regard, the Embassy is maintaining contact with local authorities in Azerbaijan and is also in touch with Indian nationals residing in Azerbaijan.

Indian nationals residing in Azerbaijan may kindly note the following:

The special quarantine regime in the Republic of Azerbaijan has been extended till September 30, 2020. However, Jalilabad, Ganja, Masalli, Mingechevir, Yevlakh cities, and Barda, Goranboy, Goygol, Khachmaz, Salyan regions are being taken out of the strict quarantine regime zone beginning from August 31, 2020. During this period, the following restrictions will be in force in the cities of Baku and Sumgait and Absheron region:

  • Services of Baku metro remain suspended.

  • Sport games including in the open air is suspended. However, activities of museums and exhibition halls will now be allowed.

  • Restaurants will be allowed to run only in open air areas. In house services at public catering facilities will not be allowed;

  • Big Shopping centers will remain closed.

  • Gathering in groups of more than 10 people in public places, including on the streets and boulevards, is also restricted.

  • All public transport, except taxis, will remain suspended on week-ends;

  • Individual and preparatory teaching services are now being allowed from August 31 with strict adherence to special quarantine rules and gathering of not more than 10 people in a group.

  • Barbershops and beauty salons, except for massage and bath service, will be allowed to operate.

  • People are allowed to use beaches within the rules set in this regard.

  • Exit/Entry into the country by land and air, except for special/charter flights and cargo flights) remains suspended during the quarantine regime.

  • Suspension of the activities of cultural facilities, including cinemas, theatres and gyms will continue.

  • Educational institutions will be open in a phased manner from 15 September 2020.
