Embassy of India in Baku Hosts Engaging Interactive Yoga Session as Part of Baku Evenings Series

The Embassy of India in Baku successfully organized an interactive yoga session on March 6, 2026, as part of the second edition of its popular Baku Evenings cultural outreach program. Held at the Embassy premises, the session welcomed enthusiastic participants, including a significant number of local Azerbaijanis eager to explore India's ancient practice of yoga. The session was expertly led by popular Azerbaijani yoga instructor Ms. Irada Aliyeva, a familiar and respected figure in Baku's wellness community who has previously collaborated with the Embassy on International Day of Yoga events. Participants engaged in a harmonious sequence of asanas, along with guided breathing exercises (pranayama) and mindfulness techniques. A highlight of the evening was the heartfelt sharing of experiences. Ms. Irada Aliyeva spoke warmly about her personal journey with yoga, its transformative impact on physical and mental well-being, and the joy of introducing this holistic Indian tradition to her fellow Azerbaijanis. The Azerbaijani participants echoed her sentiments, sharing insights as to how the practice of Yoga has helped them find inner peace, improve flexibility, reduce stress, and foster a deeper connection to mindfulness amid busy modern lives. Their enthusiastic participation and open reflections underscored the universal appeal of yoga and the growing cultural affinity between India and Azerbaijan. Charge d’Affaires, Sanjay Jain expressed appreciation for the session's success, noting: “Yoga is India's profound gift to the world — a path to holistic health, harmony, and self-discovery. The warm response from our Azerbaijani friends today reaffirms the power of cultural exchange to build bridges of understanding and friendship''. This event builds on the momentum of previous Baku Evenings sessions, including the inaugural interactive Sanskrit and Hindi gathering, demonstrating the Embassy's dedication to promoting India's heritage while celebrating shared values with the people of Azerbaijan. The evening concluded with light refreshments and informal networking, allowing participants to continue conversations on wellness and cultural ties.
