Embassy of India in Baku Launches Bharat Filmotsav with Special Screening of popular Indian Film ‘Pathaan’

The Embassy of India in Azerbaijan proudly launched Bharat Filmotsav — a celebration of Indian cinema — as part of its popular Baku Evenings cultural outreach series with a special free screening of the Bollywood movie Pathaan on Friday, 27 March 2026, at the Embassy premises. Ambassador Abhay Kumar warmly interacted with a diverse audience comprising members of the Indian diaspora and enthusiastic Azerbaijani youth. The screening was met with great excitement, and the audience thoroughly enjoyed the thrilling action, energy, and entertainment of the film. Speaking on the occasion, Ambassador Abhay Kumar highlighted the role of cinema in fostering cultural understanding and people-to-people ties between India and Azerbaijan. He expressed delight at the enthusiastic response and reaffirmed the Embassy’s commitment to organizing more such events under the Baku Evenings initiative. The launch of Bharat Filmotsav aims to showcase the vibrancy, diversity, and global appeal of Indian cinema to audiences in Azerbaijan. Ms Aytaj Orujova and Mr Shirkhan Guluzada, two avid admirers of Indian cinema from Azerbaijan who attended the screening, shared their deep appreciation for India’s film industry and rich cultural heritage, highlighting that generations of Azerbaijanis have grown up watching Indian movies, which continue to hold a special place in their hearts. Specially prepared Indian refreshments were served during the screening, adding to the warm and festive atmosphere. This initiative builds on the successful previous editions of Baku Evenings, which have featured interactive sessions on Sanskrit & Hindi, Yoga, and other cultural exchanges, aimed at highlighting the cultural heritage and diversity of India in Azerbaijan.
