Embassy of India in Baku Commemorates Dr. B.R. Ambedkar’s Birth Anniversary with special event
The Embassy of India in Baku commemorated the Birth Anniversary of Dr. Bhimrao Ramji Ambedkar, widely revered as the chief architect of the Indian Constitution, with a special event held at the Embassy premises. The occasion saw enthusiastic participation from members of the Indian diaspora in Azerbaijan, who gathered to pay tribute to one of India’s greatest visionaries and social reformers.
Ambassador Abhay Kumar offered floral tributes at the statue of B. R. Ambedkar located within the Embassy premises. In his address, he highlighted that it is a matter of pride for both India and Azerbaijan that a statue of Dr. Ambedkar is present at the premises of Indian Embassy in Azerbaijan. He also underscored Dr. Ambedkar’s monumental contributions to the framing of the Indian Constitution and reflected on his remarkable life journey. Emphasising Babasaheb’s pivotal role in shaping the Indian Republic on the enduring principles of equality, fraternity, and justice despite facing profound social and economic challenges, Ambassador highlighted the rise of Dr. Ambedkar as one of the most influential leaders of the modern world.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Rajani D’mello a distinguished Pravasi Bharatiya Samman Awardee from Azerbaijan shared insights into Dr. Ambedkar’s inspiring life, his relentless struggle against adversity, and his exceptional contributions to nation-building. She also highlighted his significant role in the establishment of the Reserve Bank of India and his historic contribution as the principal architect of the Constitution of the world’s largest democracy—a document that continues to guide India’s progress.
All Embassy officials and members of the Indian diaspora present offered floral tributes, expressing deep respect and gratitude for Dr. Ambedkar’s enduring legacy. The event concluded with a collective reaffirmation to uphold and promote the values of equality, social justice, and inclusiveness championed by him.
