The Embassy of India, Baku, in association with tour & travel companies based in India and Azerbaijan, organized B2B Meet in hybrid mode on 28 March 2023 to promote tourism in both countries.

The Embassy of India in Baku organized an India-Azerbaijan Business Meet in hybrid mode on 28 March 2023 with the participation of the representatives of Azerbaijani and Indian tours and travel agencies in order to explore the potential for business cooperation between the two countries in tourism sector. Representatives of Azerbaijani tour & travel agencies and media people gathered in a local hotel to attend the event in physical mode, while their Indian counterparts joined the event in virtual mode.

 

In his opening address, Charge d’Affaires of India in Baku Mr. Vinay Kumar welcomed and thanked all the participants for joining the interactive meeting on Tourism promotion. He also took this opportunity to extend special thanks to the resource persons who joined the meeting online including Dr. Subhash Goyal, Chairman and Managing Director of STIC travel Group, Mr. Rajiv Mehra, President of Indian Association of Tour Operators, Mr Vishal Sharma, Chairman, Zeal Global and others. He also informed that direct flight between Baku and Delhi is being resumed from first week of April with the increased frequency of three times in a week. Mr. Kumar requested the participants to use the opportunity and introduce attractive tourism packages to explore Incredible India.

 

Second Secretary in the Embassy of India Mr. Ajay Kumar Pandey and the Indian participants made presentations on the Indian tourism potential, beautiful touristic spots and the facilities being extended to the international tourists visiting India. Mr. Elman Mammadov, South Asia Tourism Markets, Azerbaijan Tourism Board and Mr. Farid Huseynov, Director of Sales & Marketing at Flame Tours & DMC also made presentations on bilateral cooperation in tourism sector.

 

Speaking at the event with a keynote address, Mr. Subhas Goyal, Chairman, STIC Travel and Air Charters Group, India said that the B2B meeting is very useful in increasing tourism and familiarization with cultural heritage of two countries. This was followed by fruitful tourism related discussions between Indian and Azerbaijan tour and travel companies in question and answer session.

 

India and Azerbaijan enjoy warm and friendly relations based on historical and cultural ties. Bilateral trade has reached US$ 1.882 billion during January - December 2022, with an annual increase of 154.6%, in comparison to the similar period in 2021. India has now become the fifth largest trade partner for Azerbaijan.
