Embassy of India, Baku organized the “Constitution Day” event on 25 November 2022 to commemorate the adoption of the Constitution of India.

Constitution Day also known as 'Samvidhan Divas', is celebrated on 26th November every year in order to promote constitutional values among citizens. On 26th November 1949, the Constituent Assembly of India adopted the Constitution of India, which came into effect from 26th January 1950. Dr. B. R. Ambedkar, Chairman of the Drafting Committee, is considered to be the Chief Architect of the Constitution of India. He is also called the Father of the Indian Constitution.

The “Constitution Day” event, held at the Premier Palace Hotel Baku, was attended by about 80 people, including Azerbaijani officials, famous cultural figures, representatives of universities, local lovers of Indian history and culture, friends of India in Azerbaijan, as well as numerous members of Indian diaspora and Indian students studying in Azerbaijan.

Addressing the event Mr Vinay Kumar, Charge d’Affaires in the Embassy of India, Baku highlighted the significance of the event and the enormous efforts of the drafting committee in framing the longest written constitution in the world. Mr. Kumar also reminded the Indian citizens their duties to understand the importance of the Indian Constitution and the Constitution Day.

Later on, the event participants watched a video of speech by Dr. B.R. Ambedkar on constitution, video on making of Constitution, presentation on Indian Constitution, patriotic song, quiz on Indian Constitution and cultural performances.
